A motorist must pass at a safe distance, leaving not less than 3 feet between "any portion of the vehicle and the bicycle." If on a road with more than one lane of traffic proceeding in the same direction, a motorist "must move the vehicle to the lane to the immediate left, if the lane is available" and it is safe to do so.
