Safe distance

Pass at a SAFE DISTANCE when traveling under 35 mph. When traveling over 35 mph 'safe distance' means a motorist must pass so as to prevent contact if the bicyclist were to fall down. The 'prevent contact' clause is not applicable if the bicyclist is within a bike lane.
